Construction dust does not clean up in one pass
Fine drywall dust behaves differently from household dust. It is light enough to stay airborne for hours, it travels through the whole structure, and it resettles onto surfaces you already cleaned. A single wipe-down of a renovated space looks finished for about a day, then a grey film appears on every horizontal surface and the job looks untouched.
Post-construction cleaning is a staged process, not a single visit’s worth of wiping. We work from the ceiling down, let the air settle, then repeat, so the dust is actually removed rather than redistributed. How post-construction cleanup works
Rough pass
Bulk debris, dust sheets, and heavy surface dust cleared from the top of the space down, so the bulk of the material leaves first.
Detail pass
Every surface, fixture, track, and ledge cleaned individually. Adhesive residue, paint specks, and compound spots removed.
Final resettle pass
After the air settles we return over horizontal surfaces and floors, which is the step that separates a finished job from one that looks dusty again tomorrow.
The resettle problem
Drywall compound dust is milled far finer than ordinary household dust. Sanding puts an enormous quantity of it into the air, and it can stay suspended long after the work stops. Clean a room while that is still happening and you are cleaning ahead of the dust rather than after it.
This is why we stage the work. The rough pass removes the bulk, the detail pass handles surfaces individually, and the final pass catches what settled during the first two. Skipping the third step is the single most common reason a renovation looks dusty again the day after it was cleaned.
We use vacuums with sealed filtration rather than shop vacuums that exhaust fine particles back into the room, and we work with color-coded microfiber so construction residue never gets carried into a finished bathroom or kitchen.

How soon after construction should you clean?
After all dust-producing work is finished, including sanding, cutting, and final paint. Cleaning while trades are still working means cleaning twice, because new dust settles onto finished surfaces. If the schedule overlaps, tell us and we will plan the passes around it.
How much does post-construction cleaning cost?
It is quoted per project rather than by the hour, based on square footage, the scope of the work that was done, and how much dust and debris is present. A single-room remodel and a whole-home renovation are very different jobs. We provide a free quote before starting.
Do you remove construction debris and materials?
We remove dust, fine debris, adhesive residue, and jobsite trash. Bulk material disposal such as lumber offcuts, drywall sheets, old fixtures, or appliances is normally the contractor’s responsibility. Tell us what is on site when you request a quote and we will be clear about what is included.
Can you clean before a final inspection or walkthrough?
Yes, that is the most common reason contractors call us. Give us the walkthrough date and we will schedule the passes so the space is finished and settled before anyone sees it.
Do you clean new windows and remove stickers?
Yes. Manufacturer labels, adhesive residue, paint specks, and construction film on glass are all included, along with frames, sills, and tracks, which collect the most debris on a jobsite.
